In-House Powertrain Calibration
Named after the legendary Ayrton Senna, the 2018 McLaren Senna is an Ultimate Series track-focused hypercar powered by the M840TR, a race-specification variant of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 789 HP and 590 ft-lbs of torque. The M840TR features upgraded turbochargers, revised exhaust manifolds, and a more aggressive factory ECU calibration than any other M840T variant. Despite this, the factory software still carries conservative timing and boost margins that our engineering team has mapped and validated for safe recalibration.
Our Stage 1 calibration for the 2018 Senna adds +125 HP and +115 TQ, pushing total output to approximately 914 HP and 705 ft-lbs. We raise boost pressure targets to exploit the M840TR's upgraded turbo hardware, advance ignition timing at the RPM points where the factory calibration holds back, and optimize fueling for 93 octane. Given the Senna's extreme weight reduction (1,198 kg dry), these power gains translate into extraordinary performance gains, the power-to-weight ratio approaches that of a modern LMP race car. Stage 2 delivers 954 HP and 750 TQ. Antilag and ECU map switching ensure track versatility. Developed in-house by Mega 3 Performance.
