In-House Powertrain Calibration
McLaren's return to road car production started here. The 2011 MP4-12C introduced the M838T 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, a flat-plane crank engine developed with Ricardo that makes 592 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It was intentionally conservative from the factory, which makes it one of the most rewarding McLarens to tune.
Our Stage 1 calibration adds up to 80 HP and 80 lb-ft through ECU optimization alone, bringing output to approximately 672 HP and 523 lb-ft.
Stage 2 pushes further, adding up to 105 HP and 100 lb-ft over stock for a total of roughly 697 HP and 543 lb-ft, numbers that close the gap to later Super Series cars. Unlike later variants, the 2011 lacks some electronic refinements introduced in 2012, making tuning gains feel especially transformative.
All calibrations are developed for 91 octane and 93 octane fuel. Custom calibrations are available for 100 octane or other race fuels. ECU map switching and antilag are offered as optional add-ons.
