In-House Powertrain Calibration
McLaren's GT uses the M840TE, a grand-touring-optimized variant of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from the 720S, producing 612 HP and 465 ft-lbs in 2021 factory spec. McLaren deliberately softened the boost curve, extended the torque plateau, and calibrated the throttle response for refined, comfort-oriented driving. The result is an excellent touring car that, through ECU recalibration, can also deliver genuinely impressive performance gains.
Stage 1 unlocks +68 HP and +80 TQ for a total of approximately 680 HP and 545 ft-lbs. Our calibration raises boost pressure while maintaining the smooth, progressive power delivery that GT owners value. Ignition timing is optimized for 93 octane, and throttle mapping is refined for a more connected feel without sacrificing low-speed manners. The GT becomes noticeably more capable on highway on-ramps, mountain roads, and during spirited driving while retaining its grand touring refinement. Stage 2 adds further gains to 697 HP and 595 TQ, the extra torque in particular transforms the GT's mid-range authority. ECU map switching available. Developed in-house at Mega 3 Performance.
