In-House Powertrain Calibration
The 720S was a clean-sheet revolution for McLaren. The all-new M840T 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 debuted here, a larger displacement, flat-plane crank engine with electronically actuated wastegates for precise turbo control. Factory output sits at 710 HP and 568 lb-ft, but the engine was designed from the outset with significant headroom beyond that number.
Stage 1 calibration adds up to 125 HP and 115 lb-ft, pushing output to approximately 835 HP and 683 lb-ft.
Stage 2 delivers up to 165 HP and 160 lb-ft over stock, reaching a thunderous 875 HP and 728 lb-ft, hypercar performance from a Super Series car. The 720S already resets expectations in stock form; with tuning, it enters a different class entirely.
All calibrations are developed for 91 octane and 93 octane fuel. Custom calibrations are available for 100 octane or other race fuels. ECU map switching and antilag are available as add-ons.
