In-House Powertrain Calibration
The 2012 McLaren 12C received McLaren's first major round of refinements, revised engine mapping, improved gearbox calibration, and an updated chassis control system that addressed early criticisms of the car's character. The M838T 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 still produces 592 HP and 443 lb-ft, but the factory software polish means the 2012 model provides a more refined starting point for tuning.
Stage 1 calibration delivers up to 80 HP and 80 lb-ft of additional output, reaching approximately 672 HP and 523 lb-ft.
Stage 2 adds up to 105 HP and 100 lb-ft over stock, pushing the 12C to roughly 697 HP and 543 lb-ft, transformative power for a car that weighs just over 3,000 lbs. Both calibrations target ignition timing, fueling, and throttle mapping for a noticeably sharper driving experience.
All calibrations are developed for 91 octane and 93 octane fuel. Custom calibrations are available for 100 octane or other race fuels. Add-ons include ECU map switching and antilag.
