In-House Powertrain Calibration

The 2018 Vantage launched Aston Martin's new-generation sports car, a clean-sheet design built on the brand's bonded aluminum architecture. The Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 (M177) produces 503 HP / 510 PS / 375 kW and 505 lb-ft / 685 Nm, paired with a rear-mounted ZF 8-speed automatic transaxle for optimal weight distribution. As the first model year, the 2018 Vantage introduced a new design language and a fundamentally different driving character compared to its naturally aspirated predecessor.

Stage 1 calibration adds up to 100 HP / 101 PS / 75 kW and 120 lb-ft / 163 Nm, pushing output to approximately 603 HP / 611 PS / 450 kW and 625 lb-ft / 847 Nm.

Stage 2 calibration adds up to 137 HP / 139 PS / 102 kW and 140 lb-ft / 190 Nm, reaching output to approximately 640 HP / 649 PS / 477 kW and 645 lb-ft / 874 Nm.

ZF 8HP Transmission Control Unit (TCU) Calibration
The ZF 8HP TCU Calibration is a critical component of a properly calibrated performance package. Modern vehicles rely on continuous communication between the engine and transmission control systems to manage torque delivery, shift quality, and overall drivability. While an ECU calibration increases engine output, the factory transmission calibration often remains configured around the original power levels and can continue to employ torque intervention strategies that limit how effectively the additional power is delivered to the wheels.

Our TCU calibration is designed to work in conjunction with the ECU calibration, ensuring both systems operate with a synchronized torque model and allowing the transmission to fully support the increased power and torque produced by the engine.
